When to call it

When defenders line up far off our receivers and give us the short stuff.

• QBQuarterback — PasserBefore the snap, find the receiver whose defender is farthest away. Throw it the moment they turn around.
• XOutside left — HitchSprint 5 yards like you're going deep, stop hard, turn back to the QB.
• AInside left — HitchSprint 5 yards like you're going deep, stop hard, turn back to the QB.
• CCenter — Left flatSnap, take one step into the rusher's path, then leak out to the left flat.
• YInside right — HitchSprint 5 yards like you're going deep, stop hard, turn back to the QB.
• ZOutside right — HitchSprint 5 yards like you're going deep, stop hard, turn back to the QB.
• HFlex — Swing, rightSwing out to the right behind the line. Check-down if the rusher gets close.

QB reads

1. 1The receiver with the biggest cushion, picked before the snap.
2. 2H or C if you're rushed.

Keys to making it work

• Receivers: the first 4 yards have to look like a go route or the defender won't back up.
• Catch it, turn, and get upfield right away.
