When to call it

After we've hit Cheetah a couple of times and their defender is jumping it.

Tap a player to see just their job on the field.

• QBQuarterback — PasserPump fake the slant hard, then throw deep down the left side. Lead X toward the sideline.
• XOutside left — Slant and goRun the slant exactly like always for three steps, look for the ball, then turn up the sideline and fly.
• AInside left — Flat, leftPush 2 yards, then sprint flat to the sideline. Pull the short defender away.
• CCenter — Safety valveSnap, take one step into the rusher's path (hands at your sides), then pop out to 4 yards and turn around.
• YInside right — Flat, rightPush 2 yards, then sprint flat to the sideline.
• ZOutside right — Slant, rightTwo hard steps upfield, then cut sharply to the middle. The check-down if X is covered.
• HFlex — Seam, holds the safetyRun straight up the middle as fast as you can so the deep defender can't slide over to X.

QB reads

1. 1Pump the slant.
2. 2X deep.
3. 3Z slant if X is covered.

Keys to making it work

• It only works if it looks exactly like Cheetah. Same stance, same first three steps.
• QB: a real pump fake. Arm all the way through, eyes on the slant.
