When to call it

When their short defenders start jumping H's swing, or X's defender follows X inside.

• QBQuarterback — PasserWatch H. Once H turns up the sideline and is past the short defender, throw it over their outside shoulder.
• HFlex — Wheel, first readSwing left behind the line like a check-down. Once you pass the line, turn straight up the sideline and run.
• XOutside left — Slant, clears the sidelineSlant hard inside and take your defender with you. That opens the sideline for H.
• AInside left — Dig, second readRun 8 yards, then cut across to the right.
• CCenter — Safety valveSnap, take one step into the rusher's path (hands at your sides), then pop out to 4 yards and turn around.
• YInside right — CurlRun 9 yards, turn back to the QB, and settle in the open space.
• ZOutside right — Clear outRun a go route and take your defender deep.

1. 1H up the sideline.
2. 2A on the dig.
3. 3C in the middle.

Keys to making it work

• H: sell the swing. Look back at the QB for a step, then turn up and go.
• X: your slant has to pull the defender inside, or H has no room.
