Lock vs trips

When to call it

Whenever we're in Lock or Blitz and they put three receivers on one side, or nobody lines up next to their QB.

• RRusher — Pressure the QBLine up where the ref allows rushers. At the snap, sprint at the QB's throwing shoulder with your hands up. Go for the flag, never the body.
• LCLeft corner — Their #1 leftNo change. The outside receiver on your side.
• LMLeft middle — Their #2 leftNo change. The next receiver in on your side.
• RCRight corner — Their #1 rightThe outside receiver on the trips side.
• RMRight middle — Their #2 rightThe second receiver in on the trips side.
• RSRight safety — Their #3 rightThe third receiver, the one closest to the ball on the trips side. Walk up and lock on.
• LSLeft safety — Their center, then deep middleTake the center. If the center stays in to screen, drop to the deep middle and help on anything long.

Rules

• Count from the sideline in: #1, #2, #3.
• Corners take #1. Middles take #2. The safety on the trips side takes #3.
• The other safety takes their center.

Keys to making it work

• Point at your player before the snap so nobody doubles up and nobody's left open.
• If they motion into trips, the safety on the side the motion goes to takes the new #3.
