Cover 2 vs trips

When to call it

Whenever we're in Cover 2 and they put three receivers on one side.

• RRusher — Pressure the QBLine up where the ref allows rushers. At the snap, sprint at the QB's throwing shoulder with your hands up. Go for the flag, never the body.
• LCLeft corner — Short, left outsideNo change. Anything short and outside on your side is yours.
• LMLeft middle — Short middle, slid overSlide one step toward the trips side. Only one receiver is on your side, so the middle is where you're needed.
• RMRight middle — Short, trips sideSlide one step toward the trips side. Wall off the inside receivers' slants and crossers.
• RCRight corner — Short, right outsideNo change. Anything short and outside on your side is yours.
• LSLeft safety — Deep, left halfNo change. Nobody gets behind you.
• RSRight safety — Deep, right halfCheat a step toward the trips side. Three receivers can send two deep at you, so stay deeper than both.

Rules

• Middles: slide one step toward the three receivers. Everyone else stays put.
• Trips-side safety: two receivers can go deep on your side. Stay deeper than both.

Keys to making it work

• Whoever sees it first yells "Trips right!" or "Trips left!"
